Niou no miya, Chapter 42: Hachimantaro Yoshiie and Abe Muneto, 1864 - Terrific scene of the great warrior Hachimantaro Yoshiie (Minamoto no Yoshiie), who was sent to negotiate with Abe Muneto to regain control of lands taken by the Abe Clan. While there, rebels attacked the castle but Yoshiie, a noted archer, drove them off, attributing his success to the war god Hachiman. Yoshiie is shown wearing a magnificent robe patterned with an eagle over his armor, gripping his bow in one hand and two arrows in the other. Abe Muneto glares angrily at him, dressed in formal court robes and a tall yellow cap. A great portrait of this famed samurai. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
