Cherry Blossom Viewing at Night

Comments - Attractive scene of beauties in a palace room overlooking a garden filled with blossoming cherry trees. At lower right, a princess bows in greeting with two attendants beside her. Behind them, a red flame flickers in a lamp covered with a glass globe. At upper right, another woman admires the flowering trees from the verandah, the lighted windows of another wing of the mansion glowing against the gray night sky. An interesting spring subject with vibrant color and nice architectural detail in the setting. Includes faint embossing on the white kimono collars and trim.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at corners from previous mounting. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
