Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Shimobe Setsuhei, 1864

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Shimobe Setsuhei in the play "Soga Moyo Tateshi no Goshozome." He looks suspiciously out of the corners of his eyes, frowning as he carries two clappers, a lantern suspended from a narrow pole above his back. He wears a striped kimono with a bamboo print inset over the shoulders, a blue and white floral print cloth draped over his head against the cool night air. An intriguing character.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. A couple small holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and rubbing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
