Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Viewing Plum Blossoms, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome scene of Prince Genji and a beauty viewing plum blossoms at night. The young nobleman grins happily as he looks ahead, pulling the collar of his red under robe together. The woman serves as his sword bearer, carrying his weapon upright. The ancient tree behind them is covered with white blossoms and buds, which stand out against the gray evening sky. A lovely design, detailed with embossing on the white areas of Genji's gray kimono and the pink under robe.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 19 1/4"
