Street Knights under a Cherry Tree, 1854

Comments - Handsome design of two otokodate or street knights standing under a blossoming cherry tree on a summer night. Both men wear matching striped kimono and red under robes trimmed with black, white towels draped around their shoulders. The young man at right smiles as he looks over his shoulder at his companion, a shakuhachi flute visible at his back. A nice full-length kabuki double portrait with an attractive muted color palette.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse near top corners from previous mounting. Slight toning and creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
