Oguri Hangan and Okume, 1851

Comments - Handsome kabuki double portrait of the famous samurai Oguri Hangan and the beauty Okume. She looks up over her shoulder with a smile as she holds a poem slip, dressed in a violet kimono bordered with cherry blossoms over a red under robe. Her hair is adorned with a red lacquer comb, a few hairpins, and colorful ribbons. Hangan stares back with an unhappy frown, his brows furrowed. His black robe features a pattern of butterflies, maple leaves, and clouds. An attractive design with expressive figures and fine bokashi shading in the background.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired. Slight creasing, faint stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
