Comments - Handsome panoramic view of the entrance gate to the new Imperial Palace, constructed in 1888. Near the bottom center, the emperor rides in a carriage, accompanied by soldiers on horseback as they leave the castle, the bridge over the moat at left. At lower right, other soldiers stand guard outside the inner wall of the complex, and many buildings can be seen inside the grounds. At upper left, blossoming cherry trees dot a garden with a pond and a waterfall. An attractive design with wonderful detail.
