Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Nobleman and Yakko

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a nobleman and a yakko or footman next to a royal carriage. The servant rests on one knee with a pair of sandals in his hand, looking up with a worried frown. At right, the nobleman stares back at him, ready to draw his sword. The elegant carriage features black lacquer wheels with a floral design, and red cloth privacy panels patterned with dragons. A handsome design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 7 1/8" x 9 5/8" + top margin

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. Horizontal and vertical folds. Small wormhole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
