Original Kuniaki II (1835 - 1888) Japanese Woodblock Print
Sumo Wrestler with Dark Purple Apron

Comments - Handsome portrait of a sumo wrestler standing in the ring. He wears a dark purple belt that opens into a ceremonial apron with a bold pattern of three dots, a wavy line, and a straight line in yellow, trimmed with red and yellow fringe. He smiles as he grips the edge of the apron, his massive figure filling the page. A great subject for a sumo collector.

Artist - Kuniaki II (1835 - 1888)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and good detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
