A Special Takamizawa Collection

A Special Takamizawa Collection - The Takamizawa publisher produced some of the finest woodblock reprints of the 20th century. Drawing on the traditions and methods of the Edo era, the prints were produced replicating original Edo era colors and printed on beautiful handmade paper. The printers worked with the utmost care and great attention to detail, masterfully reproducing color, line work and even some wood grain detail. Note our photos of the old Takamizawa publisher brochure from this small group that we recently purchased in Japan. The brochure dates these prints to the late 1950’s or early 1960’s.

View of Nihonbashi Bridge in Snow - Handsome view of travelers passing over the Nihonbashi Bridge on a snowy winter day. The wooden structure arches gracefully across the bottom of the scene, with building stretching out along the water's edge and Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. A castle can be seen nestled among the trees in the distance, surrounded by high stone walls. A charming pillar print design with attractive color. A fine Takamizawa reprint with publisher's seal on reverse.
