Series; Famous Places in Edo

Suiten Shrine at Akabane, 1854 - Handsome view of Akabane Shiba from Suitengu or Suiten Shrine, with groups of women crossing over the arched Akabane Bridge at lower left. A top center, the highest fire tower in Edo rises above a tree-covered hill, the street below lined with daimyo's mansions and filled with pedestrians. Clouds border the foreground and drift above the rooftop. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. An interesting composition.

Provenance - This print comes with a typed label from the Yamada Art Gallery, Kyoto, for provenance purposes.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 8 5/8" x 13 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Slight toning, a few spots and creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
