Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
The Ise Ondo Dance

Comments - Handsome panoramic view of beauties performing the "Ise ondo," a famous folk song and dance made popular in the Furuichi entertainment district at Ise during the Edo era. Dressed in identical blue kimono and red obi, they pose gracefully along the outer edge of an upper room in a teahouse. Guests are seated in the center, with musicians at right accompanying the dancers on shamisen, with guests seated in the row in the foreground. An attractive design with wonderful detail in the setting.
