Water Vendor

Comments - Handsome portrait of a young boy water vendor who carries his wares from suspended from a yoke across his shoulder. Two wooden buckets hang from cords, one topped with a tray containing various small bowls and containers and a wooden sign. He wears a short coat over a red loincloth, and a woven hat tied under his neck. An interesting design with soft color. An original seal on the back indicates that this print was published by Imperial Household Museum, the name of the Tokyo National Museum from 1900 - 1947. The museum commissioned reprints of many of the masterworks in its collection.
