Crazed Beauty in a Boat

Comments - Fascinating kabuki scene of a rather crazed-looking beauty in a boat, staring at the water with a wide-eyed grin as she lifts her hat above her head. In the center, a boatman pulls the craft toward the shore, a flaming torch in his other hand and the blade of a sword caught between his teeth. At left, a ninja shines a lantern on the pair, an alarmed expression on his face. The samurai wears a black coat and hood over a suit of armor and patterned pants. Willow branches frame the night sky as raindrops slant down over the river. An intriguing subject with expressive figures and a handsome natural setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 29 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Small V-shaped tear, a few holes, repaired with backing. Slight toning and soiling, a few stains, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
