Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Imagawa Yoshimoto in Battle, 1884

Comments - Handsome design of the 16th century daimyo Imagawa Yoshimoto in battle. Gripping a spear in one hand, he raises his sword above his head as an enemy grabs him around the waist from behind. Yoshimoto wears a fine suit of armor with a paulownia crest on the chest plate and a horned battle helmet topped with a dragon. A wooden shield lies on the ground nearby, and purple cloth panels emblazoned with the same paulownia crest run across the background. A lively scene.
