The 47 Ronin, Act 7: Yuranosuke Playing the Fool at the Ichiriki Teahouse, 1847 - 1852 - Terrific scene from Act 7 of the famous kabuki play about the 47 ronin "Kanadehon Chushingura" showing Yuranosuke at the Ichiriki Teahouse. Pretending to lead a debauched life so that no one will suspect him of planning a vendetta against Lord Moronao, Oboshi Yuranosuke accepts an invitation to the Ichiriki Teahouse by Moronao's retainer, Ono Kudayu. Here, Yuranosuke stumbles around playing blind man's bluff as the geisha laugh and clap their hands. Three samurai frown as the look on, ready to draw their swords. A border featuring Yuranosuke's inverted comma crest frames the design. An interesting and unusual depiction of this scene, nicely colored and detailed.
