After a Bath

Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

After a Bath - Lovely triptych of a young beauty after her bath, wearing a blue and white cotton kimono with an allover embossed pattern, a towel on a stand next to her. An attendant offers her a cup of tea, while another turns the handle of a fan to cool her. A charming scene, beautifully colored and detailed with burnishing on the black lacquer tray, mirror, and fan, and a light pattern of embossed hollyhock leaves in the background, a symbol of the Tokugawa shogunate. An attractive design we see less often than other subjects from the Inner Chiyoda series.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 27 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Slight toning, a few creases at edges and small spots. Please note: due to the size, this print may be shipped rolled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
