Original Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Print
Purple of Edo, circa 1850

Comments - Lovely triptych showing Prince Genji and a pair of beauties in an interior. The young nobleman has just washed his hands in a black lacquer basin, and he smiles up at a beauty who offers him a towel. She wears a red kimono with waterwheels and flowing water, tied with a brocade obi. The woman at left is dressed in a white robe patterned with maples leaves. The room behind her opens onto a garden with a pond. A beautiful design with wonderful detail and fresh color. A great Kuniyoshi subject.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 28 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. A couple small losses at edge, repaired. A couple small marks. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
