One Hundred Educational Pictures - Handsome complete volume by Gyokusho Kawabata from his series "One Hundred Educational Pictures," an instructional painting manual "for elementary school or home use." First published by Yoshikawa Hanshichi in 1898, each volume of the set includes 12 woodblock prints of traditional Japanese sumi ink paintings featuring landscapes, figures, animals, flowers, and plants. Rendered with handsome brushwork, the designs were intended to serve as models to copy. Some of the black and white designs are heightened with color. The prints are attached side to side, accordion style, with a vertical centerfold. This volume is a later edition published by Unsodo. An intriguing book with attractive, simple designs, rare to find complete.

Condition - Prints with excellent color and detail as shown. A few light ink marks from printing process on one print. Table of contents and end paper toned. Please see photos for details. Good condition overall.
