Beauty and Samurai on a Boat Watching a Struggle

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a samurai and a beauty on a boat witnessing a struggle taking place on a smaller vessel. At right, the warrior draws his sword with a tightlipped frown while the beauty places her hand on his sleeve as if concerned. In the boat at left, a young man has collared a samurai wielding a sword, and he stares at the couple at right. Beautifully detailed with a burnished floral pattern on the black robe and embossing on the white kimono collars and trim. A great design with large expressive figures and a handsome setting, framed by a green border decorated with crests.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail and shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, light ink bleeding at edges, slight curling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
