Prince Genji and Beauty Writing a Poem Slip, 1867

Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji and his companions on a verandah overlooking the water. He grins happily as he gestures at the ships in the distance, wearing a boldly patterned coat over a blue green kimono. At his side, a young girl kneeling holds an ink stone and writing set as the beauty at right prepares to compose a verse. She looks up with a smile, a poem slip in hand and a low desk on the floor before her. A lovely design with an attractive setting.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)
