Practicing Martial Arts

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of two samurai practicing martial arts under the watchful eye of a young nobleman. Their sleeves tied back with sashes, the men wield wooden practice swords, the fellow at left holding his weapon between both hands to block an oncoming blow from his companion. The nobleman sits on a floral cushion, a worried frown on his face. Folding screen behind him depict plovers taking flight above the water and golden yellow clouds, and a plum tree covered with pink buds and a couple white blossoms. Nice detail in the attractive setting.

Image Size - 14" x 29 1/8" + top margin as shown
