Shigeru Oda (born 1933) Original Japanese Mezzotint
La Pivoine (The Peony), 1988

Shigeru Oda - Born in Osaka, Shigeru Oda creates beautiful etchings primarily of flowers and plants against dark velvety backgrounds. Many of his images are done using mezzotint, an intaglio print process that creates a beautiful range of tones. The organic forms of blossoms and leaves stand out in luscious, luminous color against the deep backdrops. Other works are in black and white only, using a striking range of gradations of gray. These lovely designs are exquisitely printed with delicate shading and rich tones, creating jewel-like works. Each limited edition print is signed, titled, and numbered. A terrific choice for display
