Beauty with a Doll

Series; Twelve Views of Modern Women

Beauty with a Doll - Attractive portrait of a beauty holding a doll, smiling as she looks over her shoulder. She wears a yellow-green kimono patterned with butterflies and chrysanthemums over a red tied-dyed under robe, tied with a blue tie-dyed obi. She wears fashionable red lipstick that takes on a green tone when applied more thickly, giving the appearance of two colors. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with a floral comb, ribbons, floral ornaments, and hairpins, including one with a tiny dragonfly quivering on a wire above a flower. An inset at upper right in the form of a scroll unrolling shows a view over the grounds of a shrine. A charming design with wonderful detail, and a subject we haven't before seen.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Thinning at edge, a few holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, a few spots, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
