Comments - Handsome Osaka kabuki portrait of a beauty holding a naginata as she stands beside a waterfall, the water rushing straight down into splashing foam at left. She wears a red kimono patterned with chrysanthemums and butterflies, the sleeves trimmed with tasseled bows, over a red under robe. A striking design in the rare full oban format, beautifully detailed with burnishing on the black obi and the handle of the naginata. Includes metallic pigment that has oxidized to a darker tone on the kimono and the blade.
