Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Commoner outside a Sumo Match, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a commoner standing outside a sumo match, in front of a display of straw-wrapped sake casks stacked beneath a large sign. He looks up with a suspicious frown, staring out of the corners of his eyes. A handsome design, detailed with fine cloth embossing on the sign.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight separation along diagonal fold, a few holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
