A Fuji Arts special offer auction

Numazu: The Ashitaka Mountains and Numazu Station - Interesting kabuki scene by Toyokuni III of Bando Mitsugoro III as the merchant Jubei, with Oyone, the daughter of a man he met while traveling. The old man had offered to carry Jubei's baggage, but stumbled and hurt himself. After Jubei miraculously cured him with a special ointment, the man offered Jubei to spend the night at his home. Here, his pretty daughter folds a robe, looking down with a smile, but Jubei is unhappy after learning that she is already engaged. The landscape by Hiroshige above shows the village of Numazu nestled at the foot of the Ashitaka mountains, with Mt. Fuji looming in the distance and dominating the scene. A handsome image with fine detail in the kimono fabrics. A variant edition with a colored background.
