Sitting on a cushion at left, the nobleman plays the flute while a beauty in the center taps out a rhythm on a hand drum place on her shoulder. At right, two young boys dance, striking graceful poses with folding fans. A third child watches from bottom center. All three are dressed in similar kimono with burnished patterns in the solid colored areas and embossing on the white parts of the sleeves, tucked into long pants that trail beneath their feet.
