Meiji Emperor and Empress Leaving the Palace in a Carriage, 1890

Comments - Handsome scene of the Meiji Emperor and Empress leaving the palace in an elegant royal carriage topped with a golden phoenix. Uniformed grooms walk alongside the team of six horses, leading them down a road line with cheering onlookers. At center left, more carriages cross the famous Niju Bridge over the palace moat to join the procession. Wonderfully detailed.

Artist - Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 13 1/8" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at corners and top center from previous mounting. Slight toning, a few crease, ink bleeding at corner. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
