Comments - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of a young woman wearing an informal blue and white kimono loosely tied with a black obi that reverses to a green and pink geometric print. Dating from the Edo era, the "chuya" or "day and night" obi reversed from black to a print or a different color, and is worn casual kimono. Here, the barefoot beauty looks ahead with her mouth slightly open, lifting her kimono with one hand to reveal a red under robe. Her hair is arranged in a smooth bun adorned with hairpins, one of which is decorated with an origami crane. A charming Edo era design, nicely suited to the vertical format.
