Ichikawa Sadanji as Yashagoro, 1871

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Sadanji as the warrior Yashagoro, staring to the side with an angry frown as he draws his sword. He wears a fantastic kimono decorated with a fierce dragon and a burnished plaid pattern on the black areas. His shorter hair sticks up wildly atop his head, with his longer hair pulled into a low ponytail over his back. A bold design, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and light embossing in the white sash.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 1/4" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small hole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, stain at edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
