They hired the finest woodblock printers and carvers in the world for this endeavor. The resulting prints were some of the highest quality reproductions ever made. Beauty Receiving a Letter - Lovely Edo era scene of a beauty receiving a letter delivered by a young messenger. The beauty has come from the bath, wearing a sheer blue-green kimono, the outline of her body visible beneath the transparent fabric. She holds a red robe in her hand, and has a towel draped over her shoulder and caught between her teeth. The young girl looks up at her expectedly as she holds out the message. An inset in the shape of a mirror shows a servant carrying a pail of water. A wonderful design.
