Report of the People Living in Perfect Contentment: Empress and Ladies-in-Waiting Making Cotton Strings to Aid Wounded Troops in the Kagoshima Rebellion, 1877

Comments - Interesting scene inside the Imperial household showing the ladies-in-waiting at work making cotton strings, sitting around a large table covered with a fancy cloth. Two attendants at left carry in lacquer trays of refreshments while the others busily separate or comb strands of cotton yarn to make strings. The Empress sits at a small table on a raised platform at right. A lovely setting with blooming flowers inside and out, and a gorgeous screen patterned with iris and birds. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A handsome image with bright color and fine detail, including delicate embossing in the white kimono.

Artist - Fusatane (active circa 1850 - 1870)

Image Size - 14" x 28 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few tiny holes, repaired. A few creases and small marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
