Minamoto no Yoshitsune Battling the Ezo - Fantastic triptych of a naval battle between Minamoto no Yoshitsune and his troops and warriors of Ezo, the historical name given to the islands north of Honshu. At left, the warrior monk Musashibo Benkei brandishes a large spiked metal pole, his enemies screaming in terror before him. Another Minamoto warrior in the center battles a foreigner with his sword as he prepares to board the opponent's boat. Yoshitsune directs his men with a tasseled command baton from a stool at right. At upper left, a large fortified castle overlooks the water in the background. A great action-packed samurai scene with fine detail and color. A terrific print by this rarely seen artist and a nice choice for a samurai enthusiast.
