Comments - Great depiction of the famous archer Minamoto no Tametomo, shading his eyes with his hand as he looks out to sea, a fleet of ships in the distance. According to legend, Tametomo was able to sink the leading ship of his enemy Mochimitsu's fleet with a single arrow. He perches upon a rocky outcropping at left, his gripping a bow and a couple of arrows as he cans the horizon. White-capped waves splash against the rocks below. A terrific design, beautifully detailed with embossing in the white sash, and a colorful tie-dyed pattern border. We've never before seen this subject.
