Series; Chivalrous Men of Our Country

Street Knight in a Striped Kimono, circa 1843 - 1845 - Interesting kabuki portrait of an otokodate or street knight wearing a stripe kimono, striking a pose with his legs spread firmly apart. He looks up with an angry frown, his mouth slightly agape as he lifts up the edge of his robe. One hand holds the hilt of his sword, and a shakuhachi flute, which could be used as a weapon, is visible above his back. Text runs across the top, and small confetti-like dots decorate the background. A series we haven't seen before.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple wormholes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soling, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
