Comments - Fantastic triptych showing the rebuilding of Kiyosu Castle in three days under the direction of Kinoshita Tokichiro (the future Toyotomi Hideyoshi). Dozens of men push carts of timber across the bridge to the castle, which is covered with scaffolding. Hideyoshi kneels before Lord Oda Nobunaga, who sits astride a dappled horse, surrounded by his retainers and a falconer. To circumvent censorship rules, here the protagonists are called Lord Ota Harunaga and Nakaura Sarukichiro. An amazing wealth of detail in this panoramic image. An incredible print of this famous tale, and an excellent subject for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.
