Comments - Terrific depiction of the famous armor pulling scene (kusazuribiki) from the tale of the Soga Brothers. Believing that his older brother Juro is in danger, the hot-tempered Goro attempts to rush off to assist him. His friend, the strong man Asahina, tries to stop him by grabbing his armor, and a tugging match ensues. Here, Goro glares angrily at Asahina as his fellow samurai takes hold of his armor, a determined expression on his face. The scene takes place at a banquet, with a daimyo at right holding a large cup of sake, and noblemen seated around the room. Wonderful detail in the expressive figures. A handsome design.
