Fireworks at Ike-no-hata, 1881 - Great evening scene of a fireworks display above Shinobazu Pond at Ikenohata. Seen in silhouette in the foreground, a crowd watches as sparks shower down through the night sky, with a few boys perched in the willow tree for a better view. Lighted windows on the opposite shore are reflected on the shimmering water, and the rooftop of Benten Shrine can be seen in shadow at right. A wonderful example of Kiyochika's interest in depicting the effects of light and shade.
