Beauty with a Bolt of Cloth

Comments - Charming scene of a beauty preparing to sew, holding a bolt of cloth in one hand and a measuring stick in the other. She smiles as she looks over her shoulder, wearing a blue checked coat over a brown and gray floral print kimono, tied with a black obi. At lower right, a pair of scissors rests on the floor beside a sewing chest. A fan-shaped inset above shows Goten Hill or Gotenyama in springtime, a favorite location in Edo to view the blossoming cherry trees. An attractive design.

Artist - Yoshifuji (1828 - 1889)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and good detail as shown. Small tear and loss at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
