Series; The Fifty-three Stations of the Folding Fan, 1865 (Suehiro goju-san tsugi)

The Fifty-three Stations of the Folding Fan - Handsome image from a collaborative series depicting the fifty-three stations of the Tokaido done to commemorate the journey of the Shogun from Edo to Kyoto in 1863. Several artists created designs for the series, including Yoshitoshi and Hiroshige II. The series features a title cartouche in the shape of a folding fan, and is commonly known as the "Fan Tokaido." Scenes depict the Shogun's procession along the road, crossing mountains and plains, fording rivers and taking ferries. A nicely detailed, rarely seen series.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight toning, a few small spots, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
