The Tea Ceremony - These lovely woodblocks are from a series of prints by Toshikata illustrating the Japanese tea ceremony. Beautifully drawn and delicately colored, these tranquil designs capture the harmony and beauty associated with this classic ritual. Prints from this terrific series rarely come on the market. A wonderful choice for display, or for any collector interested in this timeless Japanese ceremony.

Thin Tea Ceremony - This scene shows the preparation of "usucha" or thin tea. The hostess kneels beside a brazier, her black obi beautifully burnished with a geometric pattern. One of the guests admires the hanging scrolls and floral arrangement in the niche while the other sits quietly. Two tobacco sets can be seen on the floor. The panels of the low cabinet at left feature silver metallic pigment.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical centerfold. Small number on title cartouche. Some prints have slight soiling or a stain at the edge. Please see photos for details. Generally in good condition overall.
