Irises in Full Bloom, 1858

Comments - Lovely scene of beauties strolling through the Yoshiwara at night. At right, a maid carrying a lantern follows behind the pair, lifting the edge of her apron as she walks. The two women smile back at her as they pause beside the fenced gardens of the boulevard, which are filled with blossoming blue irises. Patrons can be seen in the upper stories of the teahouses running across the background, with an entrance gate in the center. A charming design with an attractive and interesting setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 28 1/4" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. Small hole, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases, stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
