Courtesans in the Yoshiwara - Courtesans in the three high-ranking courtesans strolling through the Yoshiwara on a spring night. The beauty wears a kimono with a design of roosters, tied with a green obi patterned with a battle fan and clouds. The robe of the woman at right features a flowing red wig with a fan and peony blossom headdress like those worn by lion dances. Behind them, a bamboo fence encloses a garden with flowering shrubs and blossoming cherry trees. A classic Edo era beauty subject.
