Senso-ji at Kinryuzan, 1882

Comments - Lovely triptych showing the Meiji Emperor and Empress and members of the Imperial court visiting Senso-ji or Senso Temple at Kinryuzan in Asakusa. The royal couple watches from the left as some of the ladies in waiting scatter grain for the pigeons, which peck at the feed eagerly. The pagoda spire rises in the distance at right above the blossoming cherry trees. A handsome setting with lively color and fine embossed detail in the white kimono collars and burnishing in the black kimono and the Emperor's black uniform.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A couple wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
