The 47 Ronin, Act 7: The Ichiriki Teahouse in Gion Pillar Print

Comments - Great pillar print depicting Act 7 from the famous drama about the 47 ronin, the "Chushingura." In the center, Oboshi Yuranosuke, the leader of the ronin, looks up with a scowl as he realizes the courtesan Okaru is reading the secret message about the vendetta in his hand. The beauty peers at him from a verandah above. Below, one of Moronao's spies reads the end of the letter from his hiding place beneath the floorboards. A terrific image, beautifully suited to the narrow vertical pillar print format.

Artist - Koryusai (1735 - 1790)

Image Size - 28" x 4 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Toning, creasing, slight soiling. Please note: due to the size, this print may be shipped rolled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
