Reading a Letter and Descending Geese

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a man looking up from reading a letter, frowning as he watches geese flying overhead as they descend for the evening. The beauty in the center watches the birds out of the corners of her eyes with a suspicious expression, a roll of tissues in her hand. The woman at right smiles sweetly as she tucks one arm into the sleeve of her robe. Her kimono is shaded from violet to mauve, worn over a red under robe. A handsome design with large expressive figures, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and shading in the night sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 28 1/4"
