Kataoka Ichizo as Daroku

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Kataoka Ichizo as the villain Daroku, who attacks the courtier Ono no Tofu one evening when he pauses beside a pond to watch a frog. He holds a woven hat above his head as he scowls angrily, tucking up the back of his robe with his other hand. He wears a green kimono with a leafy pattern over a blue and white plaid under robe and a blue loin cloth. A willow tree frames the gray sky behind him as raindrops slant across the scene. A handsome design with an attractive setting and fine bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Toyokuni II (1777 - 1835)

Image Size - 14" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple vertical folds. Slight soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
