Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Late Spring at Massaki - Terrific Hiroshige print from one of his many "Famous Places in the Eastern Capital" series depicting springtime along the river. Boatmen pole their craft along the water, the torii gate to the temple at Massaki at the left edge of the print. In the foreground, visitors take a ferry across the river to visit the shrine. Beautiful color and fine bokashi shading in this attractive design.
