Original Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904) Japanese Woodblock Print
Edo Purple, 1860

Comments - Attractive scene of Prince Genji and beauties enjoying an early spring day. In the center, the young nobleman stands on a stepping stone with an ornate pipe in hand, grinning over his shoulder at the princess at right. She kneels on a verandah, looking up with a shy smile, holding her sleeve to her chin. She wears a red kimono patterned with peonies and flowing tie-dyed water, tied with a black brocade obi. A plum tree dotted with white blossoms and pink buds frames a view of the garden pond with a stone lantern at left and flowering trees in the distance. A handsome design with beautiful color and detail in the elegant fabrics and the natural setting.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 7/8" + margins as shown
